Which payment methods does Simplex support?

Simplex accepts credit and debit cards issued by VISA and MasterCard. Also, they accept some virtual and prepaid cards. To avoid cash advance fee they recommend to use a debit card.

Simplex only process credit and debit cards and they do not accept any other payment methods (such as wire transfers).

Please note that Simplex does not support American Express and Discover cards. In addition, they are currently unable to support Bank of America cards.

Note, however, that some issuer banks have their own terms regarding where and when those cards can be used, and may decline the charge on their side.

Which cryptocurrencies does Simplex support?

Currently, you can purchase BTC BCH LTC DASH ETH XRP BNB XLM TRX EOS BUSD USDT PAX DAI through Simplex partners‘ platforms.

Kindly be informed that Simplex is not a cryptocurrency provider, they are an online credit card processor that is in partnership with cryptocurrency providers and cryptocurrency purchase platforms. Simplex plans to start supporting other cryptocurrencies in the near future.

What is a credit card processor?

The credit card processor is the organization that has contracted with an acquiring bank to process transactions on behalf of the merchants.

Simplex acts as the credit card processor for online merchants in the crypto world.

What’s the difference between using a credit card or debit card?

You can use both debit and credit cards to purchase cryptocurrencies through Simplex.

Please note that depending on your issuing bank, you may incur additional fees when using a credit card.

The issuing bank is the financial institution that issues credit and debit cards to customers on behalf of the card networks, such as Visa and MasterCard. Issuing banks are also known as card issuers.

In general, debit cards are more frequently approved than are credit cards.

Do you support pre-paid cards?

Simplex does support pre-paid cards, however, specific pre-paid cards may be blocked on request of our partners (i.e. the site you came from).

If you received an error message on our checkout page which indicates that your pre-paid card is not supported, please try to use a different credit/ debit card.

Why is my MasterCard is not supported?

MasterCard have put in place a wide range of compliance requirements for purchasing crypto on their network. You can learn more about the MasterCard BRAM program via this link.

Where possible simplex has complied with these requirements. In some cases, it is not feasible and therefore the transaction cannot be completed.

Simplex advises to issue a new transaction, only at this time, if possible, please try to use a different card that is not related to MasterCard.

What are the daily and monthly transaction limits?

The daily limit is 20,000 USD and the monthly limit is 50,000 USD. Simplex can not able to increase these limits for a specific customer.

Please note that the daily and monthly limits include all fees. Please also note that the daily limit is calculated not as a calendar day, from 00:00 till 23:59, but as a 24-hour period since purchasing.

The monthly limit is counted as a 31-day period since the purchase that reached the limit, and not as a calendar month.

How long does the payment process take?

Usually, payments are processed immediately.

In extreme cases, due to delays in identity verification or high demands on cryptocurrency, processing can take up to 48-72 hours.

Delays can also happen due to an unanswered verification request from Simplex.

If your transaction hasn’t been approved, you can always easily check the status of your payment here by entering your payment ID.

What happens if I don’t complete the verification process?

If you do not complete the verification process, your transaction will be automatically cancelled.

Note:

  • If you do not complete the verification process, you will NOT be charged. If you see a charge on your bank statement, please note that this is simply an authorization hold.

What is an authorization hold?

An authorization hold is a temporary hold put on funds, pending authorization. When you make a transaction with a credit or debit card, the merchant contacts the cardholder’s issuing bank and requests authorization, to ensure they actually get paid. While the authorization is pending, the bank reserves the amount requested.

Note:

If you do not complete the verification process, or if your transaction was declined, your payment is automatically cancelled and the amount will be released by your bank once the authorization holding period is over. This can take up to 3 business days and is not something Simplex has any control over.

My payment has been declined but I have been charged. Why?

Your card was not charged for any declined payments. It was a credit card authorization check, rather than a charge; the money was held by your bank pending approval or cancellation of those payments. To learn more about authorization holds, click here.

When your payment is declined, the authorization is voided and the money should be released back into your account within 3 business days (weekends not included). If for some reason the authorization hold is not released, please check the following:

  1. Is the charge to “Simplex” visible in your banking statement?

  2. How long has it been since you have carried out a payment?

  3. Were any weekends included into the authorization hold period? Please kindly note, that authorization hold is not being released during the weekends.

If the charge is still visible 3 days (not including the weekends) after the refusal of your transaction and the charge is still visible on your card, please contact Simplex support team.

My payment has been approved, but I still haven’t received my crypto. Why?

In some cases, your transaction may have already been approved, however your cryptocurrency is still transferring. Please be assured that if your payment has been approved by us, you will receive your cryptocurrency. Registering transactions on the blockchain can take time and this is due to a variety of factors which Simplex has no control over.

You can check on the delivery of your cryptocurrency by copying and pasting your crypto-address on one of the blockchain websites, depending on which cryptocurrency you purchased e.g. BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC.

Here’s a video of how to look up a Bitcoin transaction. The same process applies for all cryptocurrencies.

Why have I been charged before receiving my crypto?

When you first made the order, your bank reserved the amount requested; that amount was then put into what is called an authorization hold or pre-authorization state.

This is done to ensure that the card owner has sufficient funds, while we verify your transaction.

In addition, transactions on the blockchain take time. Your transaction may have already been approved, however, your cryptocurrency is still transferring. Note:

If you do not complete the verification process, or if your transaction was declined, your payment is automatically cancelled and the amount will be released by your bank from the authorization hold within 3 business days.
